Popa Chubby has been described by some as a comic book character, a charlatan, a shameless
self-promoter and by others as an accomplished blues musician, showman and entrepreneur.
Having followed Mr. Horowitz's (aka Popa Chubby) career over the past many years, it is
easy to understand the controversy. On the one hand he has proven to be a tireless musician
with a rather large body (no pun intended) of work for a man with no major label support
until his recent signing with Blind Pig. On the other hand, a lot of that early work,
produced on his own label and/or oversees recordings, is often of inconsistent quality.
NEARLY NOBODY knows that Theodore AKA Popa can sometimes act as an absolutely asshole, ask
his actual tourmanager - he will start crying immediately, using ALL available tissues. So
this will definitely be HIS LAST TOUR ever with Popa Chubby.
Coming to Cobra in Solingen - a place he had played incredible shows in the past, always
polite, joking a lot & very satisfied with everything - he seemed already pissed, even at
first sight. Complaints followed about everything, culminating in severe verbal assaults.
That shitty "Burger King" meal, this damn road manager, the unfathomable sound engineer,
NO GROUPIES available for a decent blowjob, not even a cheap bitch able in the alleviation
of his tension - by hand...he left out nearly nothing you can ever imagine (and brought
even things up you never ever wanted to know...). Aiming as an bad ass tartar with a severe
brittling diabetes. As it got too personal, too insulting, the tourmanager barricaded himself
up in the toilet - and Popa wanted to cancel the whole concert, because he was not able to
get some cheap internet porn via his laptop, because of a possible WLAN-maloperation.
Finally the manager came back, the artist got enough burgers and war seemed to be over. But
during the show he freaked out a few times completely, so we had to remove some offending
parts (concerning especially the sound-engineer). The (by him) hardly played Bob Dylan cover
"Knocking On Heavens Door" and ALL the other disgusting flaming is still there... ;-)
