source: WWOZ-FM > RadioShark FM-receiver hardware > usb > Sony Vaio vpcs131fm (running Ubuntu linux) > Shark v1.0 (linux command line) > SoX v.v14.4.0 > flac (level 8 compression) > scp copy 1 large flac file > MacBook Pro (2.3GHz, Intel Core i7 quad core, OSX 10.9.5) > SoX v14.4.0 > transcoded losslessly from flac to wav > DSP-Quattro 4.2.4 (normalized by 3.4 db; split into songs) > X Audio Compression Toolkit 2.35 (sector boundaries repaired; level 8 compression) > flac

splice source (from mp3 online stream): kboo.org 192 kbps mp3 stream > Streamripper v1.64.6 (osx/unix command line) > MacBook Pro (2.5 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) > captured mp3 stream > hard drive > MacBook Pro (2.3GHz, Intel Core i7 quad core) > Quicktime 7.7 > (convert mp3 to wav/aiff) > aiff

Editing Notes: A 55-second dropout in the FM broadcast was repaired with a splice from the mp3 stream of KBOO (Portland, Oregon) beginning at 2:40 into Track 3. (After a few seconds of silence, the WWOZ broadcast had switched to canned music briefly.) Cross fades were applied before and after the splice.

Later, I used a 23-second splice from KBOO's mp3 stream to repair a dropout beginning at 5:40 into Track 4. Cross fades were applied before and after the splice.

Note: KBOO-FM was among a number of stations simulcasting the live broadcast, and in this case the web cast did not have the dropouts -- even though WWOZ's mp3 stream DID have the dropouts... I choose to capture KBOO's stream because it was 192 kbps, noticeably better than most of the other simulcast streams. However, there is a noticeable drop in sound quality during the splice.
