The PRETTY THINGS are an English rock and roll band from London, who originally formed in 1963.
They took their name from Bo Diddley's 1955 song "Pretty Thing" and, in their early days, were dubbed by the British press as the "uglier cousins of the Rolling Stones".
Their most commercially successful period was the mid 1960s, although they continue to perform to this day.
David Bowie covered two of their songs on his album Pin Ups.~ wikipedi

I used a cheap Grundig portable cassette recorder with a condenser microphone that came with it.
Not the built in kind but one that was separate and plugged into the deck.
I got the recorder for Christmas in 1971. This was the first concert I taped with it and it had barely been used prior to this.
Before the Pretty Things came on the announcer mentioned that earlier in the week they had blown away the audience at a festival in a different city in Germany and received an incredible response.
I loved their Parachute album as a kid and they were one of the bands I was looking forward to seeing live.
I do not know what on earth the soundman was thinking.
The P.A. at this festival was pretty bad to begin with but the Pretty Things...
All I know is when they left the stage I remembered what the announcer had said about how they blew the crowd away a few days earlier and all I could silently ask myself was "Why?"
Primarilly due to the sound (I could not tell at the show if they were really any good or not).
To my ears they were a complete sonic mess. But this IS a Freeway Madness era recording.
And offhand I do not think I have ever seen another recording from that tour circulate.
So presumingly many Pretty Things fans will want to jump on this no matter what.~ durian1
