A few notes on the recording... I had an excellent seat on row four, right in the middle,
and because the venue is an basically an auditorium, there were no tall guys blocking
the sound from the stage this time around. That said, the mixing left something
to be desired, with volume levels varying too much etc. Thus I had to do a bit of
EQ work on some parts, notably the banter between the songs and the quieter parts.
At times the volume levels at the concert were really loud, and I expected this
to result in some distortion on the tape, but I was surprised by how good it sounds,
actually very good. The performance is superb and I was particularly amazed by Gary's vocals:
though he was clearly suffering from a cold, coughing audibly between songs, there was not much
evidence of this affecting his singing with him hitting the high notes with ease. Admittedly, there
is a coarseness to the voice, but this may be equally attributable to the mixing as his cold.
A very enjoyable recording, even if I say so myself :). Enjoy. Share unaltered. And purchase their new record,
set to be released next year, according to the man himself!
