Notes:
Back in the festival's formative years (1995-2001), they
regularly released CD sets of festival highlights (ProgDay '95,
ProgDay Encore, ProgDay '98, ProgDay 2001). Unfortunately,
that custom ended in the early 2000s. I started to miss
those sets after a while, so since 2013 I've been cobbling
together my own 2-disc highlight set out of audience recordings.
Note that as of this writing (Aug, 2021), the full recordings
of the sets that these highlights were drawn from are still
available on the Dime a Dozen site.
-----
Due to COVID-19, ProgDay 2020 had to be held "virtually", with
performances flown in from around the world and streamed through
the StageIt web site.
There were obviously downsides to this method - ProgDay regulars
didn't get to hang out with their friends at beautiful Storybook
Farm (and reports are that the weather was unusually mild and nice
there that weekend), and watching bands on a TV or computer screen
just isn't the same as being there in person.
On the plus side - no long drive, no hot sun, no bug spray, no
hauling tents/chairs/etc out to the field, and quality beer was
just a few steps away in the fridge. But the biggest advantage
was for people like me who try to get good audience recordings of
ProgDay every year. In this case I was able to just connect the
audio output of my computer directly into my recorder and get
soundboard quality recordings. So this year's highlight set came
out particualarly well.
Enjoy, and please help support the bands and the festival in any
way you can.
