This was Randy's return to New York after a 20 year absence, having such a huge
following worldwide he was long overdue to come back, finally things fell into place
thanx to Hendrix documentary filmaker/promoter David Kramer who needed Randy's special
touch for Jimi's 70th Birthday.

The lineup for the show had many gifted and well known guitarists on board and Randy
was the big name on the ticket so the pressure must have been on to impress everyone
old and new and Randy's been doing this for over 30 years now nevertheless many of the
artist's here had so much respect for him backstage/ onstage didn't matter, i think he
was really touched by the admiration people showed him here tonight.

The set was relatively short considering all the other bands on hand, that said Randy made
the most of his time by humbly acknowledging the crowd first then got down to business
with some really great guitarmanship as usual, playing and staying away from the classics
for the most part and venturing into some of the more exotic Hendrix tunes, been waiting
a long time too see some of those tunes played live, a lot of the stuff played at this
show would be considered studio material so Randy surprised everybody when he brought the
Swedish Hendrix tribute band Ducks Can Groove onstage to back him up and second guitarist
Stefan Edfeldts who is a fantastic guitarist really helped fill in the blanks adding an
Electric Ladyland feel to the show.

This was a fantastic albeit short set, some amazing guitar showmanship & comradery between
two phenomenal guitarists that never played together before this gig, same goes for the rest
of the band , it's amazing to see and hear how in sync these guys were considering being the
first time playing together you would think they have played many times before.

At the end of the set, Randy humbly recieved the crowds standing ovation asking if we wanted
him to come back, the crowd roared back with their answer.

There isn't an encore per say after this set, but Randy comes back a little later to do an
improv "Happy Birthday" on guitar to finish out the night.

All in all you couldn't ask for more here with such a spirited set here, Randy delivered the
goods as promised and then some, hopefully be be back real soon.
