AUD recording ("re-worked"/edited version)

**mp3 samples provided (as always) in the Comments section**

TheCommish notes:
This is my "re-worked"/edited version of the show that was recently shared by fellow DIME member "crazydaren" over at The Traders Den (torrent #81070). This edited version is being shared with Daren's blessing.

Daren told me that this was the first time he was using the Zoom H2 and he purposely had the input levels set low. Also, because a security guard was standing a mere 10 feet away, the show was recorded from his shirt pocket! As a result, the overall volume on the Traders Den (original) version of this show was low and needed a significant boost. Unfortunately, however, there were some talkers/screamers in Daren's seating area...and they did NOT need a volume boost on the recording!

As such, I decided to increase the overall volume of this show by roughly 11dB/12dB on average, but manually reduced each of the "peak" spots (screams and other volume "bursts"); most of these reductions were 2dB/3dB. In Audacity, I also added +2dB to the right channel's volume. I can now listen to the edited version of this show without wanting to strangle the idiots who nearly ruined this recording with their continual chatter and occasional screaming. As compared to the Stylistics and Earth, Wind & Fire shows that were previously shared, this show seems to have more "talkers" than "screamers". Why do people go to a show if they're just going to talk during it?

Anyway, it's a fun show and no doubt you'll recognize many of the songs because they're classics (4 of the 6 songs in this show were Top 5 singles on Billboard's Hot 100 chart!). Now that I was able to balance-out some of the volume, the show still isn't "perfect" by any means but I think it's much more listenable than the original version. If you decide to grab this edited version, I hope you'll agree.

Setlist:
01. I've Been Lonely Too Long
02. In The Midnight Hour
03. A Beautiful Morning
04. Groovin'
05. People Got To Be Free
06. Good Lovin'

Note: Track 1 includes a tease of The Temptations' "Ain't Too Proud To Beg"; Track 2 includes teases of The Isley Brothers' "Shout", Sly and the Family Stone's "Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf), and Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean"; Track 4 includes a tease of The Temptations' "My Girl" and "Just My Imagination"; Track 5 includes a tease of Sly and the Family Stone's "Everyday People" and The Staple Singers' "Respect Yourself".

Approx running time: 31 minutes

Original lineage (per crazydaren):
Zoom H2 internal mics (120 degree pattern, low gain) > SD flash card > USB to PC > Nero Wave Editor (trimming and volume adjustment) > CD Wave Editor (tracking) > Flac-8 > You

Additional lineage (by TheCommish):
FLACs (downloaded from The Traders Den torrent) > FLAC Frontend > WAV >
Nero wave editor/CD Wave (for retracking) > Audacity and Nero wave editor
(volume adjustments) > FLAC Frontend (SB-aligned) > FLAC

(I also deleted a small amount of extra/unneeded applause at the start/end of the recording and fades in/out using Nero's wave editor.)

Here are Daren's notes from the original torrent:
"This show was presented by LA oldies station K-EARTH 101. The best 35 bucks I ever spent. The show was a real blast. Leading off the show was Evelyn "Champagne" King followed by The Stylistics, The Rascals, Chicago and EW&F. All groups sounded great. I did have to record this from my shirt pocket because of security but it turned out pretty good IMO."

If you decide to download this show, won't you please consider posting a comment on the show's board? It only takes a moment, and believe me, it takes A LOT longer to prepare/upload a show for others to enjoy than it does to download and run.

And won't you please consider thanking Daren for sharing this fine show with us?
