THE STORY:
I'd never even heard of Reeltime Travelers until an unsolicited pair of CDs and a very nice note came to me in the mail one early summer day, and as soon as I dropped the disc in the player I was blown away. While I've loved bluegrass for quite a while, I can't say that I'd ever heard old-timey music before, and this really made my hair stand on end. Needless to say, I booked Reeltime into the little downtown theater here as my very first show under the new name Stone Soup Productions, and was delighted when they arrived on a hot afternoon in July fresh from a very BIG gig that's described in the course of the show. It was our pleasure to meet this band just as their star was on the rise, and this show is a great example of why so many people grew to love Reeltime as soon as they heard them play.
One note of explanation on something that might sound unbelievable, but the community of Great Falls really DOES have an annual Pet & Doll Parade down the middle of Central Avenue, and I think that image even more than the concert that night will be what those musicians remember best about Great Falls. And if their video of that parade ever surfaces, I'm first in line to see it.
Reeltime's tenure as a band was all too short for many of us, but all of these talented musicians are still playing in one form or another, and I strongly urge you to seek out their music. Who knows, maybe one of these days we'll be delighted to learn of a Reeltime Travelers reunion show -- nothing could please me more. In the meantime, ENJOY!
