Here's something else just come across on a very old disc acquired in a long ago snail mail cd-r trade. Many thanks to the trader who'd made it available to me. It has not been here on DIME according to the dimebot archive, and it doesn't show up in etree lists in this form. Several of those show a dvd filmed at a New Morning soundcheck that was part of an official Remember Shakti package. This is an audience capture from that gig itself. There weren't many shows that year for Remember Shakti, so this is a nice addition to their catalog at the time when Srinivas was still alive, and they were starting to work vocalist Shankar Mahadevan into the lineup.
For this new share, Audacity was used for a few issues. It was an extremely low volume recording, so tools were used to address that and bring in a bit more depth and clarity at the same time. In addition, there were some micro gaps at the end of a few tracks from the disc perhaps having been burned TAO. Each track will now begin with music, and it seems that whoever taped this or prepped it had already excised the occasionally lengthy period of tuning that came between songs. I'm not 100% sure about track names here, so if anyone spots an error, please indicate that below in a comment.
There was no "new" Remember Shakti album in 2004, and only a handful of shows circulate from that year, and all of them seeming to be from a few July appearances in Europe around the time of that year's Montreux Festival. Within the last few weeks there had been something set up in India to honor Zakir Hussain. The octogenarian, and soon to be birthday boy, John travelled there to play with Selvaganesh, Shankar Mahadevan, and Ganesh Rajagopalan. Not sure how filled in there for Zakir, but I saw a few clips on social media sites, and they sounded great. Here's hoping some of those performances may have been recorded. Meanwhile, check the samples below to hear what you'll be in for, and enjoy!
