Comments: I must admit, this show was kind of a let down, after seeing them play last fall with the orchestra. The set is about the same (one less song this go around), but without the orchestra. And while the Infinity Hall generally has good acoustics, it's not as good as The Egg where I saw them last time. I knew this going in but decided to go anyway since the show was about twenty minutes away. Can't pass up seeing Renaissance when they are playing that close! Annie's voice was as strong as ever. I only wish that they played with some volume. Each time I see this band, it seems the show is softer and softer.
The recording came out fine. This was one of two different recordings I made of this show. I think this is the better of the two. If you are not a completist, I'd stick with my Albany recording from last fall with the orchestra. The low volume creates some challenges recording. The crowd applause in between the tracks is louder than the music. The people directly to my left were somewhat talkative, they felt the need to respond to just about everything Annie said while she was talking. What was also distracting was the woman sitting in the row behind me, about two seats over to my left who decided she was going to sing along with Annie for the whole show. It was sort of surround sound nobody asked for! Fortunately, she's not very audible on the recording since she was behind me. The mics generally don't pick up a lot of noise from behind.
Artwork is included in the torrent, with photos from the actual show.
