sorry about that, they never should have been left in there for the 1st posting.
No other changes have been made to the original posting.
Do not sell this recording.
Trade freely, losslessly and gaplessly.
Dim the lights...
and turn it up.
feel the power.
It's a Stud Muffin production.
(I just did the remastering.)
And partly because it is a Stud Muffin Production,
do not remaster and repost this recording.
Seeding and future reseeding (as is, no changes)
is welcome with this, and any glasnostrd19 post.
comments:
A great high energy RTF reunion tour show.
Usually if someone gets 2 shows it's NYC and 1 for Boston,
this time Boston got 2 and NYC only 1 show from RTF. on this day...
(then 2 more the following day, apparently, one of which was previously posted in
great quality) I didn't think that show was as good as this was, but the recording
is beautiful sound. This is in that league. N.Y. got an extra song at the end this time.
The 1st 3 songs were all new at this time, written just for this tour. The crowd was
very into it and the band is on fire, and this is a Stud Muffin production
source recording. What could be better? Maybe a soundboard, (maybe not)
or Al DiMeola playing nuptuals at your partnership reception, that's about all.
Since this was the first of such, I should briefly explain, I recieved several years
ago maybe 8 or 9 recordings made on a Sony D-5 with Naka. CM-100 mikes. All of them
sound very nice for quality, 1st gen. from the master. hard to say which is best,
you will hear a few of the best ones, and this is a candidate for the best
Stud Muffin production recording I've ever heard of a theater concert. the taper of
this does not want to be named, but also made it quite clear when I recieved them that
he has no problem with my sharing these recordings. Like I, he insists NO S.M.P. recording
ever be sold. This source did not choose the name "S.M.P" either, I chose that to identify
the taper in conversation without revealing actual identity as per request of same, and the
name comes from the deck used. the studmuffin of 80's analog audience taping (unless you
had a Naka. or comparable suitcase sized deck). A Stud Muffin production is meant for
discerning, fussy ears. It is a sign of quality. And for a guy who thought a Percy Jones
concert was boring, this source does have some fine taste in music. If the quality is less
than great, S.M.P. doesn't even bother. No exception for this recording. I give the taper
an A+ for this effort. This sounds so good I remastered it (a/k/a "new transfer") to
leave the "CD" out of the lineage for you. Maybe the best RTF aud I have heard yet,
for overall music and sound quality! The Doctor doesn't mess around when
Al DiMeola is playing. He had a good seat, I would guess maybe 10th row center,
(where some studs prefer to sit) all the instruments are very clearly heard. Since
DiMeola is from New Jersey, this is "Al-most" like a hometown show for him.
If you like anyone at all in RTF, this is basically essential listening for you.
Sounds like it is the whole show and none of the songs are interrupted. Despite
a very loud crowd, they're not too overbearing in the recording at all.
This tour was meant to be a showcase for the best of this lineup of RTF,
and I'd say it is a very nice setlist covering all 3 really fine releases
this lineup put out, No Mystery, Where have I known you before and the
Romantic Warrior. I still think the 11/15/75 Orpheum, Boston is the all time
hottest RTF show I've ever heard. If someone has that whole thing PLEASE upload
it (even if it was recorded in the bathroom). I only have about 42 min.
(that was the world premiere of live "Romantic Warrior" and a total burnfest,
one of the 10 best shows I ever saw by anyone and the best version I've ever
heard by far! of that title song, especially DiMeola! That was the all time
hottest Al performance I've ever heard in any group, he was ripping, song was
close to 20 min! (that was before they strayed out of it into the long solos
thing they did in more recent shows)
This one is up there, especially for 83 tour. Because this world is far too dim,
without more Electric Al DiM-eola. ALOT more. (and some acoustic too.).
