Usually these type of all-star one-offs are better in theory than in practice. If you are there it's awesome to see unusual combos, but all in all, better on paper than in reality, especially when you weren't there and you're listening at home. This, on the other hand, is amazing. The band is smoking and they know the songs. Patti is on a couple of songs and she is fully into it - I assume most of the vox are Richard Lloyd, but even here it exceeded expectations (relatively speaking the vox are not bad at all). But wow, musically there is so much going on. The version of Miss You (which had to be a brand new tune at that point) is just amazing. The recording, while not being quite Dark Side Of The Moon Gold Disc quality, for the era, is excellent. You can hear everything clearly and there is no real audience noise factor. A nice capture of a (dare I say it) historic gig. Needless to say, if this show had been in circulation you would have it already.
Bottom line: Richard Lloyd is on fire here.
