a combination of losing track of time and an urgent need to empty my bladder mean that i am dashing into the tent as the opening song of richard thompson's set is starting
by the time i've hooked everything together, made my way into a reasonable spot and set levels, i've missed it
so apologies for that
this and stereolab are also (miraculously) my only clash of the weekend
it's been a tough decision
but an hour and fifteen minutes later, i can't begin to imagine that i've made the wrong choice
somehow, despite decades of listening, i've never managed to see him before
but i now need to take every possible opportunity to see him again
and solo acoustic was definitely the way to pop my cherry...
if you're reading this, i probably don't need to tell you - but by god, he's good
i was sorry not to get a couple of the FC tunes he's been doing recently - 'genesis hall' and 'meet on the ledge'
and i was very much hoping for 'i misunderstood'
but considering what i did get, i have no complaints
i think just about everyone over 50 in the entire green man crowd was crammed into that tent (and a fair few young folk too)
and we were all rapt
it seemed to go by in a heartbeat
now i just need an (affordable) ticket for the 70th birthday show in london
though i can't help but think that all those guests will just get in the way somehow...
enjoy
ray
