This is an old analog tape I had that is a copy of the original master tape from the SBD. The sound is pretty good to excellent. This one was pretty tricky to play with. The right channel drops out a bit in the first song (Baby Don’t Do It) and through “Java Blues” and “The Rumor”. So, I transferred the tape using a program called LP Ripper which allowed me to make a mono track and adjust the sound levels to equal the rest of the tracks which are in stereo. On the tape the taper had to turn the tape during the guitar solo of “Chest Fever”. I did an edit to (hopefully) make it sound seamless (I listen to it now and it is hard to pick up). I then dropped the whole thing in WavePad and separated the tracks with a fade out and fade in at beginning and end. Since it was a copy of the original there was quite a bit of hiss. I removed as much as I could without ruining the sound. I think it came out excellent. But then of course I’m biased.

What a show! Whenever Rick and Richard played together you could just feel how much fun they were having. You can tell that both of these guys were more comfortable being on stage than anywhere else. It is an interesting show in that Emmylou Harris joins them on stage in a duet with Rick on “Evangeline”. It is not quite as good as the Last Waltz version (That would be tough to beat!), but is still a great song. This is the First Set they did that night. They typically did 2 Sets a night back then. If you like Rick Danko, Richard Manuel, and The Band, this is a must have.
