boombox's notes april 2016:
I've seen variations on this show a number of times recently, but Rick can always be relied upon to put on a good show, so I wasn't going to miss the opportunity to see him in a fine old seaside pavilion. That said, I have been sat on this one for far too long: I wasn't that pleased with it on listening back at the time - big imbalance between audience and music levels, quiet PA resulting in higher mic levels and some handling noise. However, listening back now, this isn't actually that bad and would still probably rate a VG. And yes, Rick was on form and the opening act, The Cadbury Sisters were excellent - a shame as they have apparently since broken up.
To explain some of the banter, this gig was played the same night as a Wales v England 6 Nations game - traffic approaching the gig from the East had major problems, including The Cadbury Sisters. It was also bizarre watching so many people glued to tablets until the girls started, then they were all back on them again at set break and at the end! Rick also had a go at breaking a mic at one point.
As usual, 24bit masters are available for any remaster project.
