Quality
-------
The acoustics in the venue were very challenging. Hard stone walls and a high vaulted ceiling made the sound a bit of a 'mush'. Many people around me complained they could not clearly hear the talking on stage between songs. The audience was in two tiers and I was sat in the upper tier which made a clear difference in the listening enjoyment (check out some of the video clips on YouTube from those sat in the lower section for example). Due to space considerations the sound desk was placed out of sight immediately to the side of stage right (as you looked at it) so no wonder the sound balance out front was not ideal.

However, I think that the recording is an accurate representation of the sound we heard on the day, given our seating position. I did have to dramatically adjust (i.e. reduce) the EQ of some of the booming bass frequencies (80hz a bit, 113hz a lot, 160hz a bit). All of that said, I still think that it has turned out to be pretty good for an audience recording - you be the judge, check the sound samples.

Audience Recording Location: on hard stone ledge stage right, just at the start of the raised section, about 10m back (see pic included).

Lineage: Sony Hi-MD MZ-RH10 (Hi-SP) with external Sony ECM-MS907 Mic (in 90deg) placed on stone ledge, stage right about 10m back (on a base of 'blu-tack').
USB transfer to PC (WAV) -> Soundforge 9.0 -> Adjust Bass EQ (as above) Normalise to standard 'Music' setting -16db and track split -> TLH SB align and Flac encode (Level8)

The show was also very informal and, I would say, very hastily cobbled together ... still, something different I suppose.
