Wonderful and totally enjoyable evening with the Mrs. at the cozy Carolina Theatre near downtown Durham a-hem... and we were in Durham and not in "Raleigh" Ms Jones :-)

Thankfully, we had an extraordinarily attentive audience and this situation almost always lends itself to an above-average musical experience (and capture). I'm pleased to report
that this turned out about as good if not better than I was hoping for. No samples needed.. download this gem with confidence !

Again, as with the Bob Dylan show at DPAC last fall, thank you Durham for allowing us all to fully appreciate the music. Other than a single untoward whistle within the first 15 seconds of the performance,
each and every song was fully realized by Rickie Lee and her rapt audience.. to be followed by thunderous applause of appreciation.

Random words that I jotted down as I listened to and reflected on this show again while prepping this share whimsical, seasoned, knowing, raw, witty, sublime, intimate, tightrope-watching, nostalgic yet
brand new, well-earned, satisfying, and mystical... highlights were too numerous to list but It Must Be Love and We Belong Together stand out for me... YMMV.

I am truly thrilled that RLJ would choose to visit Durham, NC of all places and even more amazed that the voice, the girl, the mystery that is Rickie Lee Jones is still going so strong as she keeps dragging these
wonderful stories around after all this time.. Her debut album was in extremely high rotation in my life when it broke through.... I didn't just KNOW those songs, they were a part of my coming-of-age DNA

How very wonderful to be able to hear her perform again live (saw her in Austin back in late '70's or early '80's.. hard to keep track of those Austin years ya know).

This is only the second capture I've seen here on Dime of this recent run of RLJ shows, and make sure to check out the wonderful capture of her show in Berkeley which is still seeding it is an amazing capture
and performance that I've just heard some of today.. and oh.. she played here in NC with a different accompanying musician (than the Berkeley show).. so these shows will sound a bit different musically, which
was a nice surprise for me. I had downloaded the Berkeley show when it was posted, but did not even go so far as to LOOK at the setlist since I wanted to be completely surprised.

Thank you in advance for your comments.. they mean alot to me and my taping efforts ! Do what you will with this recording except sell it, of course, because that ain't cool..

Enjoy !
