ABOUT RIZZZ:
For 30 years, Rizzz has existed as one of New England's hottest and most enduring rock bands, featuring local luminaries vocalist/saxophonist Klem Klimek, guitarists Dave Tanury and Jimmy Taitt, bassist Kenny Reynolds and drummer Rick Couto (among others). Performing a mix of original compositions and tasteful covers, in addition to hundreds of headlining gigs, Rizzz opened for just about every major rock artist including The Kinks, Little Feat, The Neville Brothers, Squeeze, NRBQ, Bonnie Raitt and many more. Rizzz still performs in the Providence, RI area because they LOVE to play.

ABOUT THIS TORRENT:
Having played on 6 October in Providence at Brown University's Meehan Auditorium (an ice-rink, let's face it, with horrible acoustics) and with almost a week off before their next official gig, Lowell and Richie (and perhaps others) decided to hang out in Rhode Island for a day or two to visit with old friends. The following night, local favorites Rizzz were scheduled to play in Smithfield, a few miles north and west of the city. Rizz, no strangers to the music of Little Feat, invited the boys to sit in with them on a few tunes at their gig that night. Much to the amazement of the assembled multitude at Gulliver's, Lowell and Richie accepted the offer, joining Rizzz for half their set.

Here, then, almost 30 years after the fact, is a document of that special night.

unknown cassette generation

The date or location of this concert excerpt is possibly incorrect. According to Featbase, the band DID play at Winterland on 28 December 1975 but makes no mention of the Tower Of Power horn section who are name-checked during Spanish Moon. It may be more likely that the performance is part of the East Coast "Columbus" gigs from late 1977. (The closest date for a 1977 Winterland date is 3 June, 1977.)

Probably the only performances of American Bandstand and Still Of The Night.
