JEMS loves vintage recordings and for this occasion we bring something different and unique.

We all know that one of the most impressive factors of the archive is the fact that you never know what you will find.

This time is something quite unusual, a rare live recording of Robert Palmer, which, based on internet research, appears to be the only tape of Palmer from 1977, apart from a KSAN radio session in August.

And things just get better: Taking into account that this is a 1977 recording, ER made a very good capture with a great fidelity. Samples provided. If we think about the fact that even now with upgraded technology people find it difficult to obtain a good recording, just think about what the conditions were when this recording was made. The AKG mics are big and the Uher cassette deck is about the size of a hardback dictionary.

Some issues that are worth noting (though not serious) are the following:

1) There were small pauses during some moments of recording. There is no music lost, at least as far as I know.

The good news is that all those pauses were covered with crowd noises, so the recording does not suffer from annoying pauses and you can listen to it with comfort. Of course, some of those edits are somewhat noticeable, but they do not affect the quality of the music at all.

2) There are a few glitches in the recording. Unfortunately, there's nothing I can do to fix those, which were likely caused by tape degradation. Again, they are barely noticeable, but for those people who like to know every detail of a recording, it's worth mentioning.

Special thanks to DIMEr gv0000, who helped identify the date of this performance, as originally the concert didn't have any details outside of "Robert Palmer Camden Community marked on the tape. Sadly, JEMS friend Ethan, who recorded the show, passed away last February, but he wanted to get his collection out to the world so I know he will be happy to see his Robert Palmer master posted.

Thanks as well to JEMS for supplying me with interesting recordings from their archive to share with you.
