Most likely this is from The Savoy on Grant Ave. where Robert caused a big
splash when he appeared, doing two shows a night for two nights. (I saw three
of them...). I would thought this occurred in 1976 but I don't know the real
date.

Right around then, Graham Parker and The Rumour also made their first SF
appearance at the same venue, also broadcast by KSAN.

Thanks!

I have his '76 US tour date.

According to it, The Savoy shows are April 6th & 7th 1976.

The sound of that sample is hot!! Does anyone have any Robert Palmer live
recordings which opened with the band playing a jazzed-up version of Husker
Du's "New Day Rising"? (This really did happen, according to Bob Mould -
I've just never heard it myself).

mmmm, it's possible KSAN broadcast date is 1977 (cause i'm sure of it), but the
show if from 76'....i have many KSAN tapes and i'm sure about the dates cause i
got all of them from the masters of a friend of mine that was working there from
75 till 81....in fact the graham parker, the hoodoo rd, some cipollina and some
others i uploaded in the last 3 years comes all from this friend...

I also have this on one very old cassette, labelled simply "S.F., Spring 1976"
if this helps. Rover might be right. Pity I still can't download with a dang,
would love an upgrade.

Maybe I am not the one to say, as I haven't heard many Robert Palmer shows, but
you do want this one, simply great!

They played the song you are looking for at least at this show:

San Diego, CA, San Diego State University - Open Air Theatre July 26, 1986 -
Westwood One broadcast

I am not sure but I think this was spread here already?

Hey Fabio, this looks awesome. You sir, once again confirm that you are indeed
a man among boys on this site!

Like many others here, I just love the early, funky Robert Palmer material. I
can't wait to get home to download this puppy.

And let me tell you how grateful I am to your friend who's supplied you with
these great shows. I continue to seed that '76 Graham Parker show of yours that
I reseeded a while back, and I really dig those Hoodoo Rhythm Devils shows that
you'd put up.

As if I haven't said it enough already, THANK YOU very much, my friend! I raise
a glass of the finest American beer in your honor!

I uploaded the 7/26/86 San Diego show nearly a year ago, still found here:

If anyone would like me to help seed it, please send me a PM and I'll be glad
to help you out. It's a very enjoyable show.

In fact, I've also shared two other very worthwhile Robert Palmer torrents.
If anyone would like to grab these, please let me know:

Savoy-Tivoli
1434 Grant Avenue
San Francisco, California

In 1976, in a back room here, many great or soon to be great attractions played
here including but not limited to: The Ramones, Graham Parker, Robert Palmer,
and Southside Johnny. Some great Bluesman played here as well such as Jimmy Reed
and Muddy Waters.

He was at the Bottom Line in NYC on April 20 & 21, 1976 to support "Pressure
Drop", along with Gallagher and Lyle. He did not appear in 1975 or 1977, so the
KSAN broadcast might have been recorded in 1976 and aired in 1977.

Could well have been to support "Some People Can Do What They Like", which came
out in 1976. The setlist from this show is definitely mostly from "Pressure
Drop", which came out in 1975, so that's why I thought the Savoy might be the
venue.

Also, I've never seen a KSAN broadcast from Bimbos but I could be wrong.

Thanks so much for the UL!!!

I saw him in Boston at Paul's Mall / Jazz Workshop around this time, and he was
as stated a "class" act on stage.

Can anybody make some artwork for this classic Palmer show?

Here's my Robert Palmer story:

I went to see the Who in Providence on Keith Moon's final tour (he had passed
out in Boston the week before, or maybe after). Anyway, the opener was Toots and
the Maytals, as Townsend was really into them at the time.

The crowd wanted none of it and kept booing and yelling for the Who.

Pressure Drop was a Toots song but Robert Palmer had just released it, so they
brought him on to sing on that and close the set. The crowd by now had only
gotten worse , were throwing things and it was the only time in many years of
concert-going that I saw a major act get booed off the stage.

Thing went better for Robert after that.....
