TRACKS 4-7 ::: 1985-09-14 Golders Green, London, UK The Hippodrome "Folk On 2" radio programme

::: 1985-09-14 is the program broadcast date, not the performance date.

Recording Information ::: FM mono broadcast -> unknown equipment (tuner switched to mono) -> off air master mono cassette -> Audition -> flac.

TRACKS 8-11 ::: 1981-08-xx London, UK "Richard Digance & Friends" radio programme
::: Very fine to EXC mono FM.
::: Warts: Few light glitches at start. Other repairs done with varying success but overall a huge improvement on the rough tape. 1 second digi sounding noise at 1:09 in cut 09 actually much improved radio interference.
::: This "Richard Digance & Friends" Programme also featured The Battlefield Band (which I do not have).

Recording Information ::: FM stereo broadcast -> unknown equipment (weak reception - tuner switched to mono) -> off air master mono cassette (edited between trax with pause button during recording) -> Audition -> flac.
Playback (unknown date) ::: master stereo cassette -> Audition -> flac.
Mastering (2013-06-10) ::: flacs -> TLH -> wav -> Audacity (normalisation to remove DC offset, channel/phase alignment, fades, manual one-at-a-time glitch / dropout / bump / pop / click / dullspot repairs, volume adjustments, NO equalisation) -> CD Wave (track splits) -> Trader's Little Helper -> yer ears. First uploaded week of 2013-06-16.
Further mastering notes ::: Seems like the receiver "mono switch" was not entirely true mono, but to save hours of mastering & get a more consistent sound, I mostly used the left channel was used except for some patches as the right channel had some serious jitter.

CoolSonics 256 (2013) & Reseeded with new textfile & MD5 (2017) ::: Thanks to the original taper & trader, a most generous DIMER who prefers anonimity. ::: Corrections welcome ::: This fine musician was part of one the most important folk duos in British folk history - along with his brother Barry, they made some of the best trad & crossover records of the past 50 years & Robin has done some fine solo work. His excellent album "Tidewave" from 1980 has recently been reissued on CD re-titled "A Lighter Touch", along with a live concert from '72. While the live CD is likely to be fairly dreadful quality based on previous Medway Folk Club releases, the Topic album is more than worth the sticker price. Here's a taste of the master at work at the Cambridge Folk Festival & a couple of other live concert outings. If you don't know the Dransfields work, it's time to do some research & hunt down some discs. "Fiddler's Dream" will shake almost any folkbent ear, especially if you like it psych-tinged. These live concert recordings are excellent. More work than I anticipated turning these into a collection, but it seemed to make a lot of listening sense, even with the couple of duplicated song selections. Listen, enjoy, show appreciation, share, give, spread peace. Yrs truly, Knees
