Luckily, not many other members of the audience were able to take the rather high volume in front of the PA stack.
As a result I had the spot pretty much to myself for most of the time. Apart from a very few occassions where you can hear members of the audience reasonably close to me, the immediate crowd noise is quite low.

Okay, so I 'cheated' & wore ER-20 earplugs as recommended by friend & fellow taper Humbug.
