The Rocket 88 Story: 1978 - 1985 feat. Ian Stewart, Charlie Watts
and many more.
This is a series of shows provided by nzb to present the story of Rocket 88 - the side project of Ian 'Stu' Stewart and Charlie Watts.
Thanks very much to nzb that provided us his recordings, to Jaap (Stonesmuziekfan) who gave critic and advise regarding my work and to my friend Riccardo (MrNo) who participated to a big part of my collection.
Volume 06: Rocket 88
15th April 1984 - London&
18th May1984 - Newcastle, The Playhouse
Part1:
15th April1984: London unidentified venue - partial show
exact line-up unknow
01 - Annie Had A Baby (Henry Glover/Sydney Nathan)
02 - Trouble In Mind (Richard M. Jones)
03 - Dont You Know (Antoine Domino/Dave Bartholomew)
Nzb send me two sources from this partial show, I chose the first one because it was less hissy. But the second source was a little more complete and had an introduction for the first track, so I used the 2,5seconds from this to complete the intro of the first source.
I also used a little sound amplification (0,7db) and I upgraded the beginning and end of the sequence.
Part2:
18th May 1984: Newcastle, England, The Playhouse
Aired live on UK Radio Metro.
Line-up: STU (p)/Roger Sutton (voc, bass)/Jimmy Roche (gtr)/Clive Thacker(dr)/Willie Garnett (sax)/Olaf Vas (sax)/Mike Hogh (tb)/John Picard (tb)
04 - Worried Life Blues (John Estes/Major Merriweather)
05 - Choo Choo Ch Boogie (Vaughan Horton/Denver Darling/Milton Gabler)
06 - It Aint Nobodys Business (Clarence Williams/Porter Grainger/Everett Robbins)
07 - Let The Four Winds Blow (Antoine Domino/Dave Bartholomew)
08 - Willie's Trick (John Picard)
09 - Bloodshot Eyes (Hank Penny/Ruth Hall/Wynonie Harris)
10 - The Stumble (Freddie King/Sonny Thompson)
11 - Im Gonna Move To The Outskirts Of Town (William Weldon/Roy Jacobs/Andy Razaf)
12 - I Hear You Knocking (Dave Batholomew/Pearl King)
Very good quality (coming from a FM broadcast). The only default: the transition between the tracks are sudden, or with a fade in/out.
I only amplified the sound +2,2db and reworked a little the beginning/end of the show.
