The Rocket 88 Story: 1978 - 1985 feat. Ian Stewart, Charlie Watts
and many more.

This is a series of shows provided by nzb to present the story of Rocket 88 - the side project of Ian 'Stu' Stewart and Charlie Watts.
Thanks very much to nzb that provided us his recordings, to Jaap (Stonesmuziekfan) who gave critic and advice regarding my work, to my friend Riccardo (MrNo) who participated to a big part of my collection and special thanks for this volume to The Caretaker who upload his tape on Electric Ladydland: http://electricladyland.synology.me/

Volume 10: The Bob Hall George Green Boogie Woogie Band

Line-up: CW (dr)/STU (p; some songs only)/Bob Hall (p)/George Green (p)/Alexis Korner (voc, gtr)/Dick Morrissey (sax)/Colin Smith (tp)/John Picard (tb)/Don Weller (sax)/Jack Bruce (bass)
Note: STU plays piano on King Curtis' Rock My Soul and Memphis Minnie's I'm Talking About You (and maybe on one or two more in between).
The first three tracks are probably without any participation of CW or STU.

02 - Barrelhouse Boogie
03 - Pinetop's Boogie Woogie
04 - Band introduction
05 - Swindon Swing
06 - St. Louis Blues
07 - Continental Blues
08 - Talking About Louise
09 - Rocket 88
10 - Rock My Soul
11 - It's Too Late For That Now
12 - Alias Smith & Jones
13 - I'm Talking About You
(infos taken from The Rolling Stones Complete Works Database by Nico Zentgraf
http://nzentgraf.de/books/tcw/works1.htm).

We received this one, from The Caretaker, after the preparations for this series had already been finished; this is why this volume does not come in the chronological order, but as an appendix.
Its a very good recording: I only amplified the sound a little bit and I improved the beginning and the end of the cd-r.
I also reworked the transitions between the tracks, now they begin with the song. A few seconds were repeated between the two first tracks (at 303), so I deleted this repetition. And there was a gap between the two last tracks; I upgraded it with a fade in/out.

Hi
Not my usual thing is it? I dloaded the recent Rocket 88 torrents, if you haven't heard it you should, and contacted the uploader, we got chatting and he has asked me to upload this, so here it is.
This is an audience recording I made on a sony stereo tape recorder (sorry don't recall the model but probably a sony TC152) and a sony stereo mike. Very close to the stage. Its not something everyone knows but apart from Uncle Bob I am very fond of Jazz, I go to plenty of gigs and I attended all the Bracknell Jazz Festivals till it just became "Bracknell Festival" an stop featuring jazz.

This was some shock I must say. I hadn't gone to see this and when they started to come on and Charlie Watts is there setting up his drum kit I was gobsmacked. But they really cook, its a great show, curiously many recordings I made at Bracknell never survived but fortunately this has.

Enjoy

The Caretaker
