Roger McGuinn/Jonathan Edwards - The Lostbrook Tape Series - Volume 97


Less than nine months after his 1981 appearance at My Father's
Place (see Vol 10), Roger McGuinn returned to Roslyn for another
memorable performance. I spent a great deal of time playing my
guitar along with the 1981 tape and loved that recording so much
that I made a copy and presented it to Roger backstage before his
set. Although this performance didn't quite live up to my inflated
anticipation, it did include two songs I had never heard
before: "Take Care Of That Smile" and Dylan's "Up To Me."
McGuinn played a shorter set this evening, perhaps due to the addition
of Jonathan Edwards on the bill. I was unsure about taping the
Edwards set since the only song I knew at the time was "Sunshine," but
as he walked on stage, you'll hear me say, "Why not?" I wish that had
always been my attitude. As a reward, I captured a fun set that gets
better with every listen.
