This was the first of 2 nights of Roger Waters at Barclays Center. This was
my first time at the venue and since I was going solo and with the recon on
security and my lack of a place to stash my gear in the event of a problem I
went with my lower profile setup. I took the subway and arrived early to check
out the scene. After checking out the entrance and talking with security at
box office I went to grab a bite to eat. Grabbed some pizza then went looking
for coffee that wasn't Starbucks. I saw a place called Donut Plant across the
street and figured they would have coffee. I went in and saw the donuts, holy
cow they looked good. http://doughnutplant.com/ I soon had the best donut I
had ever tasted. After that went and joined the line. Security harder than
Madison Square Garden for me but got everything in. They wanted me to check in
my clear NFL bag but I ignored them and went in. I found my seat and waited for
the show. As with the west coast shows, the sound was stunning and the show was
amazing. I did have 2 idiots in front of me who insisted on smoking cigarettes
through the show. One was almost kicked out when security told him to put it
out and he dropped it, then picked it up. To "hide" them they had the cigarettes
behind their back so I got to breath them. Twice I told them to put it out.
After the show they tried to justify it and I didn't want to hear it, not interested
in their second hand smoke. At the end of the 2nd set the crowd showed their
gratitute and it brought Roger to tears. He mentioned 9/11 and all those who lost
their lives either directly or indirectly and what it meant to play in NY on 9/11.
All in all an amazing experience seeing Roger again.
