Notes:
JEMS is proud to be able to partner with and present some of the choice recordings in the D & D archives. Some of these recordings have been around for years but none of the master tapes or safety copies in some cases have ever been digitized until now. Dave and Donn taped many shows in and around the Seattle area in the 70's and also were contemporaries of some of the JEMS members. Volume 3 captures the Rolling Stones on the opening night of their 1972 tour in support of their Exile On Main Street album. This recording was done on Dave's dads combo radio/tape recorder with Donn and Dave taking turns holding the mics and working the cassette deck. This an excellent recording but a little heavy on the bass. This copy is from Dave's reels, the masters may or may not still exist. It is possible Donn may still have them but they couldn't be located at this time (Sept. 2010). There were a lot firsts at this show this was the first time Rocks Off, Tumbling Dice, Happy, Torn And Frayed, Sweet Virginia, Ventilator Blues, All Down The Line and Rip This Joint were played in a live setting. This show is the only night of the tour that Torn And Frayed along with Ventilator Blues were played. Honky Tonk Women was also dropped from the set after this show to only show up at select shows as an encore. This is a great a high energy show if a little rough around the edges due to it being the opening night of the tour. The recording has been mastered for sonic enhancement.
