Interview with Rory
Again, this will not be one of my long-winded concert
descriptions. I know very little about this show. I
downloaded this last November (11/2006) from either
Dime or TTD, I don't remember which one. I would like
to thank the person who seeded this in the first place.
I do not remember his or her name. Thank you very much !
If I recall correctly, there was very little identifying
data given with this show, just Rory's name and a date.
After ~ 20 min. on the Internet, I was able to identify
the venue, city and state, assuming that THAT info was
valid. This is a very nice FM broadcast from WMMR-FM,
Philadelphia, PA. It's a very hot show and Rory's really
on fire for this one. I decided to up it with accurate
info so that all of you RG fanatics could get another
shot at grabbing it and also to pay back all the great
people here at Dime and TTD who've given all of us so
much already. Herewith a description of the recording
and what I had to do to make it more enjoyable.....
This is an FM broadcast but it is NOT perfect. Upon
first listen, I noticed a slightly muffled sound, as if
the original tape were several gens down OR had been
listened to a LOT. There may be a very slight hint of
warble in some tracks (could be my imagination) ; you
be the judge. The tracks are clear though, and it should
now be a pleasant listening experience. The biggest problem
was the very low volume levels present on CD 2. The tracks
were barely audible. The levels on CD 1 were pretty low
also, but not as bad as CD 2. I used Cakewalk Pyro 2005
to double the levels of the first 6 tracks and to multiply
the levels of the last 6 tracks by a factor of 6. All tracks
are now very loud but with no distortion and very little hiss.
I did NOT touch anything on the interview. I listened to
~ the first 15 seconds of it & it sounded OK to me. I'm
not big on interviews as you may have guessed. I then
converted the boosted and retracked wav files to
flac (level 8, aligned on sector boundaries) using
Trader's Little Helper. I removed NO music and no applause.
That's about the extent of everything that I did. No EQing
was used to change the original flac files, just what has
already been described. That's about all that I have to say,
so let's wrap this up...
Please-
No buy, no sell, no mp3. Please seed this as long as you can.
Rory fans may already have picked this up the first time around;
if you didn't, pick it up by all means. I will post a sample for
those of you who are unsure of the SQ, but trust me, it's pretty
good. Well, thanks for reading this and Mr. Natural would like to
add these few comments: have fun, don't freak out, enjoy the concert
and revel in the guitar genius that was Rory Gallagher.
Rest in peace, my friend. We really miss you.......
