Show Notes:
Well, Fairbanks finally got an artist that coaxed me out of the house for a full, paid show...and even another one after that for (almost) free.

The inimitable Rosanne Cash graced my hometown, and after waffling a bit, I grabbed a front-row balcony ticket about a month ago...there was a slight moment of panic when the confirmation email couldn't be located,
but the ticket was there, and that's all that mattered.

And, leading up to the show, they (Fairbanks Concert Association) added quite a treat, that being a *talk* ("Reflections and Perspectives") with Rosanne the following afternoon for a max 100 folks at the Palace
Theater...so, I had to snap up one of those free tickets (the gist was for folks to contribute to FCA's musical education fund for the kids in lieu of a cover charge, so I did throw $20 into the kitty for that).

But, back to the main event...smooth, professional and full of rich sound both her and her band were. I gotta hand it to the Hering's acoustics, for the appearance of a 50's bomb-shelter theater (think lots of
concrete...and thick), the soundman did good work, as when the eyeballs were closed, lots of texture and nuance was clearly audible.

For me, the highlights were the covers ("Long Black Veil", "I'm Movin' On", and a searing, jammy "Tennessee Flat Top Box" was probably the crown jewel), but her original material, to these ears, was just as
compelling, as many of the numbers had intro stories that pulled you right into the song.

The other cool part was the encore of "I Shall Be Released", as Anchorage also got a treat of a different sort. You'll hear the stories on the tape (both the show and the talk), as a couple months prior to the
Anchorage gig (Fairbanks gets to piggyback on a lot of Anchorage's efforts for artists coming here), Rosanne started Zooming with veterans in Anchorage with traumatic brain injuries.

I believe she got to Anchorage a day or two early, and the point of the Zoom sessions was that there was a musical/songwriting workshop with those veterans, where they'd write songs and lyrics to help them heal.
Pretty chilling stuff (detailed even more during the "talk" set), but anyhow, point being is that one of the verses for our "I Shall Be Released" was written by the vets, and called out onstage as such.

Gotta give her props, as for being "closer to 70 than 60", she had clear command of the stage and her voice...very comfortable in her own skin.

So, in that spirit, be sure to thank "Straight CASH Homie" (hahaha) Dennis for his efforts in getting this to you promptly.

It was a pretty special night.

No bullshit.

Unlike Fuck Hagar, who feels like 10 pounds stuffed in a 5# bag right now....*(he needs to stay away from his 100mg chocolates, methinks ;) )

aaaaaaaaaaaaanyhow, ENJOY!

-Fuck Hagar OUT!
