Known for its fresh approach to classic Blues, Rose City Kings delivers the punch and excitement that fans have come to expect. With the recent addition of three new band members, Rose City Kings brings a more youthful, energetic element to its already powerful sound. With a combination of driving rhythms and soulful vocals, the band has become known for its well-crafted songs that reach back to the core power of traditional Delta and Chicago Blues, creating a unique contemporary sound.
In addition to having been presented two Muddy Awards by the Cascade Blues Association, (Best New Act 2003 and Best Contemporary Act 2004) the band also represented the Northwest at the Blues Foundation’s annual International Blues Challenge in 2005. Rose City Kings toured with blues legend Jody Williams as his backing band in 2006. RCK has been hailed by Real Blues Magazine as the Best West Coast Blues-Rock band for their release Up On It. The band’s 2005 live recording Holler Out for More quickly broke into the Top 50 Roots Music Report in the Roots Blues category, remaining on the chart for several weeks as the highest ranked self-released album. All three releases to date contain original works by bandleader Kolvane.
