Howdy all. Here's a very special offer that I spent a lot of time on to make sure 1) I am only uploading unreleased tracks, 2) I'm not duplicating any material and 3) I'm uploading the best versions available.
First, a little background. Roy released the LP 'Live in Japan' in 1978. It was a single LP that was cultivated from the June 1977 Japan performances. The LP was only released in Japan, available only as an import to USA. It's unclear as to how many performances were used to make the LP, but it was several.
In 2001, I traded for a total of 7 CDRs related to the making of the Live in Japan LP. They were basically labled as outtakes and the guy that I traded with said that the CDs were all different, although there was very limited information as to the source of the recordings other than they were from the Live in Japan concert recordings.
I have spent a lot of time comparing the 7 cdrs worth of material to what is officially released on the Live in Japan LP, as well as comparing the cdrs with each other. What I present here is the best of the 7 cdrs, trimmed down to about 3 cdrs worth of material.
After the presentation, I will go into more detail about the 7 cdrs and how I went about putting this collection together. But for now, I present the Live in Japan Outtakes - Whotrader version. I have included a sample of the Soul Dressing outtake. If you compare the sample to the same section of the version on the Live in Japan LP, you will hear they are completely different. This is an example of how I validated the outtakes to be different than the legit release versions.

Basically, all of this cdr set was used except Blues Otani which appeared to be the official version.
The last CDR set I used as a reference was a CDR I received called Nagoya 1977. Turns out that this is a pirate of the official CD with an extra track stuck on the end. I did not use anything from this disc for the collection.
So, all of the tracks used for the collection are noted with an (*) so that you can know which of the sets the collection came from. The bottom line is that all tracks from the 2 cdr version were used (except one official track) and 4 tracks were salvaged from the 4 cdr set. Hope you all enjoy
