::: Very fine stereo FM with some warts (see below). Check samples for takin' or leavin' it trials.
::: Warts: Repaired dullspots & dropouts but surely missed a few. #3 has bad reception issues in first 1/2, then gets better but they ain't all gone. #3 has 2 splices at ~4mins. #4 has bad splice at start with 2 full lines of song missing (splices likely due to more serious reception issues). #4-8 have slight reception issues, but they ain't too bad.
::: Roy played May 17 & 18, 1976. Elliott Murphy opened the shows. Probably 2 shows per night.
::: According to Roy's comment in San Francisco on April 21st, the band had been together for less than a month at this NYC gig.
::: The radio broadcast didn't happen until 1978.
::: Almost certainly one of you has a better copy of this without reception issues. By 1978 surely many NYC music freaks were taping regularly scheduled radio concert series. It'd be great to hear an upgrade after all these years.
::: Complements the S.F. Boarding House 1976-04-21 show I uploaded VERY nicely, as it has completely different songs.
::: Please note: If you downloaded the San Francisco 1976-04-21 upload from this tour the line-up needs correcting (It's same as this one).
Recording Information ::: stereo FM broadcast -> unknown receiver/recording equipment -> master tape -> unknown analog (only) generations -> unknown generation Maxell UD XLII-90 cassette, Dolby B on.
Playback 2015-11-24 ::: unknown generation Maxell UD XLII-90 cassette on Nakamichi 680ZX cassette deck, Dolby B on, azimuth adjusted for individual tape, heads cleaned & demagnetized -> Sony Linear PCM Recorder PCM-M10 (LPCM 44.10kHz/16bit WAV files) -> computer -> Audacity [normalisation to remove DC offset, channel/phase alignment, fades, manual one-at-a-time glitch, bump, pop, click, dropout & dullspot repairs, volume adjustments, pitch (speed) seemed almost exact & was left alone, NO equalisation] -> CD Wave (track splits) -> flacs (Trader's Little Helper) -> yr ears. First uploaded week of 2015-12-26
Line-up (as announced by Roy) ::: Roy Harper - electric & acoustic guitars, vocals // Robert Johnson - electric guitar // Dave Cochran - electric bass // Walter Polk - drums.
Nothing here ever commercially released to my knowledge. If I'm wrong, please advise & I'll take the offending trax offline.
DimeTravel 245 ::: Thanks to the original taper & traders!::: Corrections welcome ::: Along with many of you, I am hoping 2016 will see Roy back on the road playing some gigs, He's been sorely missed! This '76 tour is a most excellent time period for Harper, sandwiched between his albums "HQ" (USA title "When an Old Cricketer Leaves the Crease") & "Bullinamingvase" (USA title: "One of Those Days in England"). Listen, enjoy, show appreciation, share, give, spread peace. Yrs truly, Knees
