::: VERY fine stereo AUD but quite bright. Check samples for "not for me" notions or "just gotta have it" reassurance.
::: Warts: Repaired dullspots & dropouts but surely missed a few. Overly bright, some rushing hiss, low bass.
::: This is the Mk2 version WITH EQ & NR to lessen some issues. Find the Mk1 version without EQ or NR elsewhere.
::: UK titled "Bullinamingvase" (Harper's 9th album) had just been released in February (USA title "One Of Those Days In England").
::: Nice Floyd-esque sound to "One Of Those Days In England (Parts 210)" & great "new" arrangements of some earlier songs.
::: Harper's band Chips renamed Black Sheep prior to this tour to avoid confusion with a fairly unknown Irish show-band also sporting that moniker.
::: This gig was midway thru a 14 city Irish/UK tour (April 19-May 2). Adverts around online.
::: MANY pre-1980 Harper tapes exist that have never seen DIME or much of the digital world. It'd be great to have some more uploads. If you need transfer or remastering help, please contact me!
::: Some earlier bands Black Sheep members were in: Grease Band,Spooky Tooth,Sweeney's Men,Wings,Plainsong,Scaffold,Trigger,Albert King,Greenslade,Hinckley's Heroes.
Recording Information ::: unknown stereo recording equipment -> master stereo tape -> 1st generation tape -> 2nd? generation TDK SA-90 cassette, Dolby B on.
Playback 2015-11-xx ::: TDK SA-90 cassette on Nakamichi 680ZX cassette deck, Dolby B on, azimuth adjusted for individual tape, heads cleaned & demagnetized -> Sony Linear PCM Recorder PCM-M10 (LPCM 44.10kHz/16bit WAV files) -> computer -> Audacity [normalisation to remove DC offset, channel/phase alignment, fades, manual one-at-a-time glitch, bump, pop, click, dropout & dullspot repairs, lowered coughs & claps/clapping, volume adjustments, 0-42 mins speed correct, 42 to 86 mins -1.2% & last song -1.6% pitch (speed) fixes with single pass per segment after frequency analysis & with pitchpipe verification, some equalisation & noise reduction applied] -> CD Wave (track splits) -> flacs (Trader's Little Helper) -> yr ears. First uploaded week of 2015-11-21.
Line-up (Roy Harper & Black Sheep - previously "Chips") ::: Roy Harper - guitar, vocals // Henry McCullough - guitar, backing vocals // Andy Roberts - guitar, backing vocals // Dave Lawson - keyboards // Dave Cochran or Herbie Flowers - electric bass // John 'Admiral' Halsey - drums.
Nothing here ever commercially released to my knowledge. If I'm wrong, please advise & I'll take the offending trax offline.
DimeTravel 236 ::: Thanks to the original taper & traders! ::: Corrections welcome ::: It'd been a long time since I listened to a full '77 show. More's the pity, excellent & fascinating & I'll return tho this or others quite soon. What a unique rapport Roy has with his UK audiences - unlike most anyone else's. Listen, enjoy, show appreciation, share, give, spread peace. Yrs truly, Knees
