Sometimes the forages under the eaves in the attic can reveal unexpected and forgotten items from the recesses and under the floorboards. This recording is a case in point. It's not been played since 1985 and had been completely forgotten about. This show is listed on the excellent HQ site (http://musicnaut.iki.fi/musicnaut/royharper.html) but no recording is mentioned so I would think that this is the first time it's made it into the wider world.
Now back in the 1980s Bradford University still put on bands and the city still had some sort of life and wasn't literally the pit it is these days. (There is no centre in Bradford today because it was knocked down a couple of years ago and it still resembles a large bomb crater.) Anyway back then in the 1980s (when all this were fields) they used to have flea markets in the old Corn Exchange building and there was a stall that used to sell dodgy cassette recordings of local gigs. I bought this the week following the gig, played it once and then forgot about it. Hearing it again after all this time it's not a bad recording, there is some fumbling with the mike and cuts here and there (presumably to conserve tape), there's a bit of noise, it's only half the concert but it's better than nowt.
