Ruthie Foster
Waterfront Blues Festival
Portland, OR.
July 6, 2008

Recorded from KBOO FM. An all volunteer radio station in Portland. FM>HD>FLAC>Dime or at times FM>H2 ZOOM>HD>FLAC>Dime. As always there are some bumps in the road, but nothing that would stop me from down loading these shows. I've tried to fix all the drops and pauses in the music. Enjoy the festival, twofthrs

"A major talent; not only a great singer, but someone with the ability to really move you--truly a rare gift." -Austin Chronicle

"Hailing from Texas, Foster applies a solid hand on the guitar and a voice of almost Aretha-like proportions to a fresh and earnest blend of blues, gospel, folk and soul..." -Willamette Week

Ruthie Foster returns for those new fans and those who missed her on her first passes.

Foster writes and sings Texas music, blending elements of blues, gospel, country and folk and bearing the unmistakable vocal inflections of her upbringing in the African-American church. Born and raised in Gause, Tex., a rural community on US 79 just west of Bryan/College Station, she joined the Navy and saw the world as a vocalist with a touring Navy Band. This led to a five-year writing and artist development contract with Atlantic Records, at which time she was based in New York. Now back in College Station, she has steadily been building an independent recording career with two CD's to her credit (and a third in the works). Highlights of her performance resume include Piccolo Spoleto in Charleston, S.C., Willie Nelson's Fourth of July Picnic, Falcon Ridge Festival in New York state, the Kerrville, Texas, Folk Festival, the Dogwood Festival in Atlanta and the Philadelphia Folk Festival.
