Ryan Shaw
Waterfront Blues Festival
Portland, OR.
July 5, 2009

Recorded from KBOO FM a local all volunteer radio station. There are always reception problems and drops in sound from this station. Maybe it's just where I live. Anyway, I have tried to find and fix all the drops in sound. This year not all the first day was broadcast. Not sure why. Etta James canceled and was replaced by Keb Mo' but his recording contract wouldn't allow his broadcast.

Please understand that I don't know all these bands and it's hard for me to come up with all the set list's. I'll do my best and ask for help when needed.

Linage: FM tuner straight to HD>CD Wave>TLH>FLAC>torrent.

This is a big undertaking for me every year and I love doing it. Please leave your comments, I enjoy reading them. Enjoy the tunes, twofthrs

“Ryan Shaw possesses a voice and style that belong to another era, when R&B was about real singers, real instruments and real songs.” – People Magazine

“... a massive talent with a huge voice ....” - Billboard

“The Georgia native channels such pioneers of ‘60s southern soul as Otis Redding and Wilson Pickett…with a passionate, gospel-charged delivery that does his forebears proud…” –People Magazine

“Prepare to have your soul rocked…” –The Los Angeles Times

“Shaw reaches back to the sound of vintage soul music from the ‘50s and ‘60s and reinvigorates it with passion and authenticity.” –The Boston Globe

This 28-year-old singer/songwriter from Decatur, Georgia is out to revive the passion and soul of the Golden Age of Rhythm & Blues ('60-'72) for a new generation. As his Grammy-nominated One Haven/Columbia debut, This Is Ryan Shaw , clearly demonstrates, Shaw is no ordinary artist. With a stunning voice that instantly brings to mind artists like Wilson Pickett, Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, and Jackie Wilson, Shaw's "tru-skool" sound is less a revival than a revitalization of the entire genre. Songs like "Nobody", "We Got Love" and "Do The 45" are helping move the young singer to the forefront of modern soul with a voice that The Washington Post calls "full of fire and conviction, exploding with energy and emotion."

Last fall Shaw joined soul legends like Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, and Carlos Santana at Radio City Music Hall for a benefit concert to raise funds for construction of a Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial on the National Mall. In addition to that prestigious honor, Shaw stole the show with electrifying sets at such major festivals last year as Austin City Limits, Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo, and opening for Joss Stone, Los Lonely Boys, John Legend, and Van Halen. Shaw has been featured on The Martha Stewart Show, “The CBS Saturday Early Show”, Last Call with Carson Daly and Ellen Degeneres’ first-ever primetime variety special Ellen’s Really Big Show .
