Notes:
Average FM Recording. Interview and studio performance.

This is a high resolution cassette transfer that has been slightly enhanced digitally. Mostly some minor imperfections in the actual tape recording were minimized, but also an attempt has been made to enhance and expand the dynamics that have been compressed by the effect of being transmitted over FM radio. Most of the ticks and pops and buzzes have been removed manually (microscopically) with iZotope RX Advanced 2 (some DeClick, some DeCrackle, some interpolation mode) but some anomolies may still be heard! No noise reduction or compression has been used to harm the music! Stop the loudness wars!

Lineage:
KCRW FM radio broadcast (mono? super-narrow stereo???) > Unknown FM Radio receiver > Unknown cassette deck > Unknown generation cassette transfer (possibly this tape is a master? maybe 1gen??? hard to tell...)

Cassette playback through a Nakamichi BX-2 (azimuth adjusted, no dolby, normal tape bias) > line out level 7.5 > rca to stereo 3.5mm gold plug > ZOOM H2 line in @ 99 record level 24 bit 96 khz > SDHC card > USB > HDD 24/96 .wav master transfer files saved.

Files phase corrected and balanced in Adobe Audition 3.01 automatic phase correction tool.
DeClipping DeClicking and other restoration with iZotope RX Advanced 2 both as a standalone program and as a plug-in.
Open Ambience Project "SHEPPi" Free Spatial Enhancer is slightly used as a plug-in.
BBE Sound Sonic Maximizer was sparingly applied to the effects chain as well.
Files edited, re-balanced, peak limited and final rendering @ 24 bit 96 khz with Wavelab 5.01b.
Trader's Little Helper for Hi-Res 24/96 FLAC8 conversion.
Additional FLAC tagging with Foobar2000.

I don't know for sure where this tape came from. It was owned by a taper of some other early Sarah shows, but I suspect that he might have got this tape in a cassette trade in the mail. There was also a safety copy of this show in the collection I had access to that sounded like it was copied from this cassette. However this could easily be a master tape - I cannot obtain any new information about the origins of this cassette, other than that it sounds like a major improvement over the previously circulating digital trade version that I have also downloaded. I didn't hear any "tape-to-tape" editing sounds when I was making the tape to digital transfer...

Very nice (and unique) performance and short interview. Upgrade!!!
