Savoy Brown
1970-04-xx(?) ::: unknown town/city, Connecticut ::: unknown university ::: M?-AUD
"Sounds of England" tour(?)

[PROBABLY NOT "1969 Connecticut college" as previously traded & NOT "SBD" ~ more info below]

~*~ Mk2 version, carefully remastered fixing various issues, without EQ or NR ~*~

01-[04:22]. song intro -> Train To Nowhere
02-[00:48]. ==talk & tuning==
03-[23:24]. Louisiana Blues
04-[07:09]. ...end of drum solo(?) -> (instrumental) ->
05-[04:38]. I'm Tired

Total Time ::: 40:20

::: EXC AUD often mistaken for SBD, now upgraded. Check samples to allay suspicions or for gleeful glimpses.
::: Warts (minor!): Repaired dullspots & dropouts but surely missed a few. Most near-mike claps removed/lowered (still a bit #03 start). #03 tape cuts @17&26mins (smoothed over). #04 fades in @end of a drum solo (probably). #05 @30secs levels accidently pushed up 25secs distortion&again a few secs later for 15secs.
::: Previously traded as "SBD" but near-mike claps (now removed/lowered) & other AUD factors disprove that. Close-up AUD, right near stage.
::: Previously traded as "1969-xx-xx Connecticut college SBD". DIMER gv0000 notes NO 1969 or 1970 date can be found for the actual New London,CT Connecticut College. SB played 3 CT universities in April 1970 during their "Sounds of England" tour with Family & Troyka (Nice cancelled). Assuming "CT" info correct, likely it's one of those - 1970-04-17 Fairfield,CT Fairfield University // 1970-04-18 Middletown,CT Wesleyen University // 1970-04-25 New Haven,CT Yale University.
::: COMPARISON CLAUSE: Original upload(s), often included with a Chicago set, now referred to as "Mk1".
::: CONTRAST CLAUSE: This is the Mk2 remaster (without EQ or NR) of the old "Ml1" upload, last on the tracker at www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=603131

Recording Information ::: unknown mono recording equipment -> master mono tape -> ? -> CD-R -> EAC -> flacs.

Remastering 2019-xx-xx ::: flacs -> Audacity [normalisation to remove DC offset, no offset issues (same in both channels & almost identical kHz levels), fades, manual one-at-a-time glitch, bump, clap, pop, click, dropout & dullspot repairs, volume adjustments, pitch (speed) fixes #01 +5%, #02 -5.5%, #03 +4.4% with single pass per segment after frequency analysis & with pitchpipe verification, NO equalisation (except a few split second muffled spots EQ'd to match the rest & #05 distorted bits toned down), NO noise reduction] -> CD Wave (track splits) -> flacs (Trader's Little Helper) -> yr ears. Freed 2019-11-xx.

::: Line-up: Christopher Thomas "Chris" Youlden - vocals // Kim Simmonds - electric guitar, vocals // "Lonesome Dave" Peverett (RIP) - electric guitar // Tony (aka "Tone") Stevens - electric bass // Roger Earl - drums.

Nothing here ever commercially released to my knowledge. If I'm wrong, please advise & the offending trax will be taken offline. NONE of this CT set was released on 2CD "Hellbound Train,Live 1969-72" (aka "Jack The Toad"+"Looking From The Outside"CDs). Comparisons made - "I'm Tired" is 1970-03-27 Chicago & "Louisiana Blues" is 1970-11-xx Edmonton.

DimeTravel 524 ::: Thanks to the original taper & traders! Thanks to original uploader (38f in 2005?). Thanks to DIMER gv0000 for extensive date/location/song comparison research. ::: Corrections welcome ::: These notes may look simple but they took many hours, as did the remastering & comparison work. One of the most powerful SB sets to surface & greatly enhanced by remastering & much-needed speed correction. If you dig Savoy Brown & don't get this, you need re-callibrating. Listen, enjoy, show appreciation, share, give, spread peace. Yrs truly, Knees
