Savoy Brown
1970-10-24 _ Essen, Germany _ Grugahalle _ (M-boot LP & M2-AUD)
"III Internationales Essener Pop & Blues Festival" [UPGRADE & LONGER than previously circulating sources]

*!* DimeTravel brings you "British Blues BOOM!" Volume 70 *!*
~*~ Carefully remastered fixing various issues, without EQ ~*~
=^= #1 very clean original pressing boot LP, #2 & #3 previously uncirculated tape =^=

01.[20:54]- Louisiana Blues
02.[02:53]- ...I'm Ready
03.[09:47]- Shake, Rattle & Roll

Total Time ::: 33:34

::: Really EXC AUD tape for its vintage. Check samples for testin' or tastin'.
::: Warts: Almost none. Transitions from stereo to mono between #1&#2. #1 fades out as "I'm Ready" starts & #2 fades in late in same song. Tiny bit of crackle at end of LP side from increasing volume in early fade.
::: Weird that "Louisiana Blues" is stereo & the non-boot part is mono. Other recordings from this festival are the same wide stereo as the boot. Tapes made by the same source.
::: First part of Savoy Brown's set is missing: I Want You To Love Me/Sunday Night/Leaving Again/Memory Pain.
::: According to the circulating setlist #2 is the 1st encore & #3 is the 2nd encore.
::: Plenty of info around online regarding this fine 4 day festival.
::: Many thanks to DocDondy for the original pressing boot - far superior to the 90s repress.
::: A more seamless patch is possible between #2&3 but wanted to keep the sources separate.
::: Boot LP also had May Blitz & Fotheringay trax - now officially released.
::: NOT the same as "Looking From The Outside, Live 1969/70", "Hellbound Train Live 1969-72" or "Jack The Toad Live 70/72" CDs.

Recording information (track 1) ::: unknown reel to reel recorder, well placed microphones (at SBD?) -> master reel-> bootleg LP -> CD-R -> wavs -> flacs.
Recording Information (trax 2 & 3) ::: unknown reel to reel recorder, well placed microphone (at SBD?) -> master reel -> 1st generation reel -> 2nd generation Maxell XLII-90 cassette, Dolby B on.

Playback 2012-01-23 ::: 2nd generation Maxell XLII-90 cassette on Nakamichi BX-300 cassette deck, Dolby B on, azimuth & pitch adjusted, heads cleaned & demagnatized -> Tascam CD-RW900SL pro CD recorder -> CD-RW -> computer, EAC secure -> wav.

Remastering 2012 & 2015-11-xx ::: wavs -> Audacity [normalisation to remove DC offset, channel/phase alignment, fades, manual one-at-a-time glitch, bump, pop, click, dropout & dullspot repairs, volume adjustments, boot LP transfer +0.4% & tape transfer +3.1% pitch (speed) fixes with single pass per source after frequency analysis & with pitchpipe verification, NO equalisation] -> CD Wave (track splits) -> flacs (Trader's Little Helper) -> yr ears. First uploaded week of 2015-11-07. LP was manually declicked & volume adjustments were made.

Line-up (Savoy Brown #7) ::: Kim Simmonds - electric guitar, vocals // 'Lonesome Dave' Peverett - electric guitar, vocals // Tone Stevens - electric bass // Roger Earl - drums.

Nothing here ever commercially released to my knowledge. If I'm wrong, please advise & I'll take the offending trax offline.

DimeTravel 224 ::: Thanks to the original taper & traders! Many thanks to DocDondy for providing some info & the fine transfer of his boot LP. Many thanks to a sorely missed friend, Brinkhoffs, for trax 3&4 ::: Corrections welcome ::: Continuing the sharing with a hammer of a show, this one is great, even if it is a partial set. Listen, enjoy, show appreciation, share, give, spread peace. Yrs truly, Knees
