An ACIDJACK master recording

SP-CMC-8 (AT 943 omni caps w/ low sens mod)>SPSB-10>R-09HR (24/48)>Audacity (fix channel outage, set fades, tracking, equalization)>FLAC (level 8)

Not a great situation here. Unfortunately, my otherwise-reliable CMC-8 omnis were crapping out, with the right channel basically gone. I was aware going in that a problem might exist, but wanted to try them out in the field to be sure there was an issue. Unfortunately, this confirmed my suspicions. (For what it's worth, Sound Professionals has been extremely cool and helpful about getting the issue resolved).

Partly because I knew things might not go well, I tried a different taping setup that I had been curious about using but, unfortunately, attracted some attention. Bowery security was cool about it, but asked me to turn my R-09HR off during SOSB's set as their manager was nearby. I turned it back on briefly, but in any event, I missed most of the set.

This recording doesn't really do full justice to what I felt was an awesomely impressive, wall-of-sound style set from SOSB, who are attracting a lot of attention around here. They reminded me a little bit of a combo of My Bloody Valentine and Lush live, which is a good thing - their record is great, but doesn't feel quite the same.

Given the issues with the recording, I am only posting this because (a) there is not much SOSB on here, and I hope people will give them a listen and buy their excellent record, Alpinisms (and tape them!!!) (b) I recorded both openers' sets, which are included, and I particularly liked Apache Beat, and (c) I did correct the channel dropout and do some other editing, so it is a proper recording. The recording is still not up to the level of what I consider my usual work these days, and the SOSB set is cut, but it is still worth listening to. Also, there is some distortion from the actual PA during a few parts of the Violens set. Take it for what it is, and please, support School of Seven Bells, Apache Beat, and Violens.

A lot of taping for me this weekend elsewhere as well. For my Meat Puppets recording from the night before (6/11), please visit nyctaper.com in the next few days.

In order of appearance. Please help with setlists if you can.
