The scheduled opening act canceled at the last minute due to a family emergency, and so the
Dapettes, Saundra Williams and Starr Duncan Lowe, stepped up and premiered seven tunes from their
upcoming debut album. This was apparently the first time this material had been performed. The
concert was an an outdoor venue in downtown Phoenix with several hundred people in attendance.
It was general admission, with a small amount of bleacher seating, and so in order to grab a seat,
we arrived when the doors opened which was two hours before the show.

This was an old-school R&B/soul show, and it kicked ass. As a former member of Sam Moore's horn section
(Sam Moore is the living half of Sam & Dave), I can tell you that I was very happy to see this style of
music being kept alive (hell, I'm wondering how I can score the gig!). It took me a few months to get
around to editing this for upload, because I didn't know the names of the tunes and I kept putting it off.
But I listened to this on my earbuds a couple weeks ago, and was so happy with how the recording
turned out that I realized that the world needs to hear this great show. I had to make some educated guesses
about the names of the Dapettes material, but I think they're pretty close. I also included some photos,
which aren't great, but they give you an idea of what it was like to be there. I hope you enjoy it.
