Shawn Colvin - Early Demos '75-'76

These were supposedly recorded in Carbondale, Illinois between 1975 and 76, and have circulated under the guise of 'public radio performances.' The location seems correct since Shawn spent time in Carbondale both years. However, during a brief email exchange I had with her about 3 years ago, she informed me that she didn't recall the tapes ever being licensed to public radio for broadcast (i.e., if they had been, perhaps it'd been done well after the fact - once she got famous - without her knowledge or consent).

In any event, the sound quality is fantastic and Shawn's voice is significantly deeper here, though you can definitely tell it's her. Good stuff! Great covers - and a few originals. "Sailboat" being the prettiest. The 2 band arrangements are the only recordings I've ever been able to find of the storied 'Shawn Colvin Band'.
