Shemekia Copeland
Waterfront Blues Festival
Tom McCall Waterfront Park
Portland, OR.
July 3, 2005

Recorded from KBOO FM, a local all volunteer radio station. There is some inherent reception
problems scattered throughout these recordings. The station is not very powerful and the team
had some problems on the first day of the festival getting everything "plugged in". All in all
some great music with a few tolerable "blurps".

On Sunday, July 3, the young blues-belter Shemekia Copeland steps onto the festival main stage that
her father, the late Texas guitar legend,Johnny Clyde Copeland, headlined in 1992. Shemekia,
only 25, has taken the music world by storm, already garnering in her short career four
W.C. Handy Awards, five Living Blues Awards and a Grammy nomination.

She calls her latest release on Alligator, Talking To Strangers, which was recorded in New York
and produced by Dr. John, "my best yet."
