Daughter of Grammy award winning bluesman Johnny Clyde Copeland, Shemekia has already proven herself as a premiere blues musician in her own right. Here she performs flawlessly with her powerful voice and fantastic & tight backing band outdoors in the blazing heat and beautiful surroundings of Salmon Arm, British Columbia, Canada.

This was a super enjoyable show. The weather was very hot but thankfully, also quite dry which makes it a lot more bearable compared to some of those nightmare high humidity days I had earlier that summer in Montreal & Ottawa.

During Ghetto Child, which Shemekia dedicated to her father, she shows us the strength & prowess of her vocal abilities as she pulls away from the mic and still manages to project her voice across a very large field of people at great distance. For reasons that I no longer remember, I missed the first few seconds of the first song.

Enjoy.

This recording will naturally sound much better cranked up loud with quality headphones!
Peace & enjoy,
