(*performed January 24-February 5 - see below for more info)
01. Corky's Blues
02. Big Boss Man
03. So Glad You're Mine
04. My Starter Won't Start
Total Time ::: 28:43
::: Very fine sound for '67, lovely stereo. Check samples to see if it's yr kind o' groove or to get yr fire burnin'.
::: Warts: Slight distortion at times during some louder parts. Quick stops & starts. Some dropouts/dullspots missed and/or not fixable but most repaired. Overall, a pleasure.
::: Previously incorrectly traded as 1967-03-xx. Cafe au Go Go site says their only 60's dates were January 24-31, 1967 (Howlin Wolf, The Siegel-Schwall Band, Richie Havens) & February 1-5, 1967 (Howlin Wolf, The Siegel-Schwall Band).
::: An unknown gen. was DIMED in '05 as source unknown. This version is a known gen., nice quality & hopefully an upgrade.
Recording Information ::: Soundboard -> unknown master stereo reel-to-reel tape recorder -> master stereo reel -> 1st gen. tape (probably reel) -> 2nd gen. reel -> 3rd generation Maxell XLII-S 100 cassette, Dolby B on.
Playback 2013-05-01 ::: 3rd generation Maxell XLII-S 100 cassette on Nakamichi 680ZX cassette deck, Dolby B on, azimuth & speed adjusted (pitched!) for individual recording, heads cleaned & demagnetized -> Sony Linear PCM Recorder PCM-M10 (LPCM 44.10kHz/16bit WAV files) -> computer -> Audacity (normalisation to remove DC offset, fades, manual one-at-a-time glitch / dropout / bump / pop / click, volume adjustments, NO equalisation) -> CD Wave (track splits) -> Trader's Little Helper -> yer ears. First uploaded week of 2013-05-11.
Line-up (unconfirmed bassist) ::: Corky Siegel harmonica, piano, vocals // Jim Schwall electric guitar, vocals // Jack Dawson electric bass // Russ Chadwick drums.
Nothing here ever commercially released to my knowledge. If I'm wrong, please advise & I'll take the offending trax offline.
CoolSonics 238 ::: Thanks to the original taper & traders! ::: Corrections welcome ::: Along with both my brothers drumming from an early age, Brother Kent took to the harmonica & listened to a lot of Siegel-Schwall Band for mentoring, so it was regular platter fodder around the house. Now here's some live material to spin on your hard drives or on your CD player. Enjoy!
