Spent a perfectly delightful sunny (and windy!) Wednesday afternoon exploring another beautiful small North Carolina town and college campus. Davidson is just about 125 miles from my home outside of Chapel Hill. My work meeting in Charlotte conveniently ended around 2:00 p.m. so I headed up I-77 to this quaint little hamlet which sits on Lake Norman just north of CLT. Walked around campus, wandered into the "house that Steph built" (that would be Steph Curry for those that don't follow basketball), and then walked over to the Student Union which is attached to the concert hall.

This was my first time seeing Sierra with her band (saw her play with Billy Strings at his Doc Watson 100th birthday celebration a few years back), and she was as exceptional as I expected. Backed by a capable and savvy band who are so very comfortable with the songs and each other, Sierra skillfully swept us all off our feet with her sweet songs - and stories - of growing up country in middle Tennessee.

As for the recording, I am so pleased to report that this is an extraordinary capture, if I say so myself, as the crowd was extremely well behaved with nary a wayward whistle or holler... so good on ya Davidson crowd! Samples and photos included for your consideration.
