Silver Metre
1970-xx-xx* CALIFORNIA unknown studio UNISSUED SINGLE (M1-ST)
~*~ MAJOR UPGRADE to commonly circulating Fillmore West bonus trax source ~*~
01. Train Kept A-Rollin'
02. Tulip Baker
Total Time ::: 6:50
::: EXC quality studio recordings. Check samples for the latest Silver Metre forecast.
::: Warts: None. Tape was in superb condition.
::: * No date on box. Could be between late '69 & early '71 - but probably 1970.
::: A fansite says B-side title is "Just Give Me Some Time". 38f source (bonus cuts with Fillmore set) titled it "Just Give Me Some More Time". Reel box was labeled "Tulip Baker".
::: 38f source labeled as album outtakes but this is off an original studio stereo mixdown master reel my source said was a proposed 7" single. They still could have been recorded at the same sessions as the album, but there's nothing to confirm this.
::: Possibly recorded for the same label as their album & only released 45, National General Records, but 'tis unknown (to me).
Transfer Info (unknown equipment) ::: studio stereo mixdown master reel -> 1st generation Maxell XLII-90 cassette, Dolby B on.
Playback 2015-04-16 ::: 1st generation Maxell XLII-90 cassette on Nakamichi 680ZX cassette deck, Dolby B on, azimuth adjusted for individual tape, heads cleaned & demagnetized -> Sony Linear PCM Recorder PCM-M10 (LPCM 44.10kHz/16bit WAV files) -> computer -> Audacity [normalisation to remove DC offset, channel/phase alignment, volume adjustments, fixed a couple of pops, pitch (speed) fixed with single pass after frequency analysis & with pitchpipe verification, NO equalisation] -> CD Wave (track splits) -> flacs (Trader's Little Helper) -> yr ears. First uploaded week of 2015-04-25.
Line-up (unconfirmed / album line-up) ::: Leigh Stephens - electric guitar, background vocals // Jack Reynolds - vocals // Pete Sears - electric bass, piano // Micky Waller -drums.
Nothing here ever commercially released to my knowledge. If I'm wrong, please advise & I'll take the offending trax offline.
DimeTravel 114 ::: Thanks to the original taper & trader! ::: Corrections welcome ::: Well, it ain't Blue Cheer or "Red Weather" album outtakes but they are damned enjoyable, especially the A-side. It's really a lovely listen all the way round - clear & crisp & the guitar work is exemplary. Crank it up & it should have yr hens layin' eggs. Listen, enjoy, show appreciation, share, give, spread peace. Yers truly, Knees
