SLY STONE (and his family)
July 16, 1974
The Mike Douglas TV Show
AUDIO ONLY

Sly plays and is interviewed by Mike.
You also get to hear the wit and wisdom (sic-k) of Peter Marshall
----------------------------------------------------

THE SONGS:
01 Thank You (falettin me be mice elf again) 3:00
02 Interview 6:02
03 Interview 2 6:06
04 Family Affair 4:50

TOTAL TIME 19:56

Peter Marshall (another guest on today's show and host of the show "Hollywood Squares") utters a totally politically incorrect remark about Sly. If said today he would have to grovel an apology, take a sensitivity training course, and he would probably lose his show (Don Imus, Bill Maher). Even Sly questions him (rhetorically) about it.

--------------------------
THE SOUND:
Not Too Bad
There is some distortion during the loud bits.
Since there was no way to adjust the input levels on a VCR, this is just the way it is.

LISTEN TO A SAMPLE BELOW

--------------------------
THE LINEAGE:
TV broadcast > VHS > dubbed to cassette years ago > playback on Nakamichi BX-2 with azimuth adjustment done > digitize via Audacity > FLAC 8 via xAct

A RAW TRANSFER
What you hear is what I have

No noise reduction or eq was applied.
Tape player (Nakamichi BX-2) azimuth adjustment was done.

AZIMUTH ADJUSTMENT:
If you use cassettes and want the best playback (for either listening or conversion to digital)
YOU REALLY SHOULD KNOW THIS
go to:
http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=96904
Download
It's only 4.5 mb
Read it

It is also in the DIME Wiki; http://wiki.dimeadozen.org/index.php/Azimuth

The actual adjustment is VERY easy (there is more detail in the wiki)
1 - take off the door
2 - plug in some headphones
3 - put in a tape
4 - WHILE listening to a tape twist the screw back and forth (you'll see once you download the file)
5 - stop twisting when it sounds the best

Remember, each tape is different (especially if recorded on another machine)

HEY GANG:
I offer what I have, with ALL the information known to me.
If you've got a better version, seed it.
If you have more accurate information, please add it in a comment.
If anyone would like to attempt a remastering job, go right ahead.

Let's try and keep it positive and make DIME as good an experience for all as possible.
