The Royal Court is a great theatre, down the bottom of a hill, just round the corner from the Adelphi hotel where the Smiths were staying. We didn't get up there until late afternoon, and once we'd found somewhere to leave the van, and checked out where the venue was, we walked round the corner to the Adelphi to hang out and see if we could bump into anyone. I don't think we did, but we stayed there until quite late. The Smiths were a very punctual group ... they'd always come on between ten to and nine o'clock, so we hung around in the hotel bar until quarter to, and then dashed back down the hill to the venue.
The Royal Court is quite an old theatre. Seated upstairs, but free standing downstairs. Guest list entrance was downstairs, which was pretty packed by the time we arrived. But I managed to get a good recording position non the less. This show is one of the ones that sticks out as being a great performance. Certainly it was one of the better recordings I made from this tour ... and one of the best sellers.

Again this was recorded using my Sony Professional Walkman with Sony EMC-929LT Mic onto Metal tape.
