Total Time ::: 55:48
::: Music to eat fish by & revolutionary to the extreme. Quality not exceptional, but not bad, drums are loud. Check samples for approbation or inducing presentiments.
::: Warts: Mix is a bit dodgy, see comments below. There are audio glitches at 30:04 & 42:13 which sound like they were on the master.
::: Some sites list track 12 as "Skool Dinner Blues", but it IS "Eaten By Her Own Dinner", perhaps one of the only live versions ever to surface.
Recording Information ::: unknown stereo equipment -> master audience tape -> 1st generation tape -> 2nd generation Maxell XLII-90 cassette, Dolby off.
Playback 2011-08-12 ::: 2nd generation Maxell XLII-90 cassette on Nakamichi BX-300 cassette deck, Dolby off, azimuth & pitch adjusted, heads cleaned & demagnatized -> Tascam CD-RW900SL pro CD recorder -> CD-RW -> computer, EAC secure -> wavs -> Audacity (fades &/or glitches, dropouts, volume adjustments, no EQ) -> CD Wave (track splits) -> Trader's Little Helper -> yer ears. Line-up ::: Robyn Hitchcock - guitar, vocals // Matthew Seligman - bass // Morris Windsor - drums & vocals
Nothing here ever commercially released to my knowledge. If I'm wrong, please advise & I'll take the offending trax offline. This is NOT the same night as the material used on the "Lope At The Hive" side of the "Two Halves For the Price Of One" LP.
CoolSonics 085 ::: Thanks to the original taper & traders! ::: Corrections welcome ::: This one's for Jim Neill! Not the best of audience tapes, a bit low-fi, with low vocals & the drums are a bit loud in the mix, though that's sometimes resolved later in the show as Robyn's guitar gets louder... But still, it's all in the zone. A great time period with not too many recordings to choose from & some of the versions of songs are outrageously excellent here. Great early "Black Snake Diamond Role" material, etc. Usual entertaining Robyn dialogue with an audience who are fairly rowdy between songs, but not raising hell during (most of) the music. Amazing how many of them already know the songs well, both titles & lyrics.
More recordings on the way, making up for years of slow netspeed. Kudos to Zongo for life support, Lochner for mikes & much more, & to Fast Freddie for runnin' Video Dick's Record Emporium with the bathroom office full of tape decks. Thanks to Hanwaker (few among us can keep his pace) for over 30 years of trading & friendship. Mountains of gratitude to Davmar, D.White, Sanchez, Elliot, The Florida Kid, Kloiber, Zingg, JTW, Bershaw, Boston Gold, Weeks, Dixon, Moore, Gough & SO many more for all that collecting & sharing... Royal thanks to The Man In The Palace, Doc Tinker, Brinkhoffs, Barely Eatin', Reel Master Gaule, Parrish & all the traders who housed me thru my music acquisition & travel years. Hats off to Brother Kent, Uncle Jake, Little Queenie (& her neighbor Frank) & his honor Ptomaine Thomas. Glasses raised to Byron for musical horizon expansion & much obliged to J & Thurston for keepin' my concert fires burnin' since my continental shift. Thanks to the Mods for keepin' DIME alive. Enjoy, share, give, spread peace. Yers truly, Knees
